Sharing successful experiences of schools
Ofsted have published two reports which review nine schools that are making a difference. The reports put six secondary schools and three primary schools under the microscope and ask "Why are these schools more successful than most in raising the levels of achievement of their Black Caribbean pupils?"
These schools have demonstrated that effective school strategies based on mutual understanding and respect, an ethos of fairness and equality and an expectation throughout the school, of high standards of achievement can make a significant difference to the attainment of all pupils.
Raising the achievement of Black Caribbean pupils is a complex issue with no simple answers - but these schools have clearly shown that progress can be made.
