EvaluationAn overall evaluation of the African Caribbean Project was carried out by a team led by Dr Leon Tikly from Bristol University in partnership with the Institute for Education. The evaluation began in April 2004 and the final report was published early in 2006. All schools in the project were sent a questionnaire and there are 10 case study schools.
An internal evaluation of the Black Pupils' Achievement Programme was made in Autumn 2008. The aims of the evaluation were to assess the impact of BPAP on five key areas contributing to raising attainment for Black pupils:
- leadership and management of the programme within LAs and schools;
- effective use of data for identifying, tracking and monitoring pupils' progress;
- teaching and learning;
- pupil attitudes;
- partnerships with parents and the community.
The evaluation was designed to analyse the impact of BPAP on pupils, parents, teachers and support staff, senior leaders in schools, local authority personnel including Strategy and EMA managers, consultants and advisers.
An evaluation of the Black Children's Achievement Programme is currently being carried out by the Institute for Policy Studies in Education (IPSE) at London Metropolitan University. The evaluation seeks to identify effective practice (at school and local authority level) that could usefully be adopted by a wider range of schools, and to examine the educational performance of BCA Programme schools at Key Stages 1 and 2. The final report will be published in the Autumn of 2009. |
