March 2006: Exam Results for BME pupils 2005

The Statistical First Release 'National Curriculum Assessment, GCSE and equivalent attainment and Post-16 attainment by pupil characteristics, in England, 2005' has now been published and shows that exam results for minority ethnic pupils continue to improve.

The figures published today show how pupils are performing in Key Stage tests and GCSEs, broken down by ethnicity, gender, English as a first language, special educational needs and free school meals.

The GCSE exam results of Black pupils have improved at a higher rate than any other minority ethnic group over the last two years – and well above the national average this year.
