The Department, in partnership with the National Association of Teachers of Travellers (NATT) is carrying out an evaluation of the Parent Held Education Record. This booklet is issued to mobile Gypsy/Traveller pupils and is designed to help schools assess their previous educational levels quickly and effectively.
Ten copies of the booklet were issued to each Traveller Education Support Service (TESS) in November 2002 to issue to schools with highly mobile Gypsy/Traveller pupils on their roll.
The evaluation, using 2 short questionnaires, one for teachers and one for pupils/parents will be conducted throughout November. TESS Co-ordinators have agreed to issue the questionnaires to schools and act as the liaison point.
