How do I use this?
These animated walkthroughs will give you a good overview of the website and show how you can find information and resources to suit your children and your setting.
The EYFS is based on the four Principles shown on the Home page of this website all work with children begins from these Principles. The following examples show how, having put the Principles into practice, practitioners have begun to use the website to support the development of effective practice with children in their setting.
- A childminder caring for a five-month-old baby wants to know about supporting her developing communication skills.
- A teacher in a mixed nursery and Reception unit wants to know how to support childrens learning through play.
- A nursery worker with concerns about a two-year-old looked-after child who is new to the setting and who seems anxious and watchful when an adult comes into or leaves the room.
- Pre-school staff members working with children aged two to four plus years, in a church hall with little outdoor space, are keen to develop opportunities for outdoor provision.
- A teacher with a mixed class is concerned to provide an appropriate environment for the children who are showing considerable interest in independent reading and writing.
- A childminder wishing to develop observation-led provision for children from birth to six-years-old to ensure that every childs needs are met appropriately.
