• let parents/carers know how they can help their children at home
• keep parents/carers informed about the curriculum
• celebrate achievement
• share special news from the class or school
• give information about trips, visits and special events
• share information about behaviour
• report on incidents or accidents
• encourage parents to share information with the school.

Sensitive or confidential information is sent in a separate letter.
