Contributing a case study
The principles of the Behaviour and attendance strand support consistent, coherent and sustained approaches to behaviour and attendance, building on the best of current policies in terms of content and delivery. In particular these principles focus on the need to build on existing good practice in schools and on enabling this to be shared in an exchange of views.
The case study model has been chosen because it encourages schools to concentrate on a specific instance, for example, the introduction of a new system or structure to promote regular attendance and to observe, question and evaluate the impact. It provides the opportunity for one strategy or intervention to be studied in depth to inform whole school improvement. Case study is a practical, problem-solving tool that supports schools to develop a greater understanding and improvement of practice. Case studies will support schools in the process of self-evaluation, development of targeted responses to issues and the development of responsive whole school effective practice
You are invited to identify instances that would prove useful case studies for this strand of the Key Stage 3 Strategy. A pro forma is available to download from this page - please do not submit material in another format. Completed pro formas should be forwarded to regional directors.
Notes on writing case studies for the web are also available to download.
