AnswerLeading on Intervention is a collection of resources designed to support anybody who is leading intervention work in primary schools. The resources will help you to think about your school's current position and to plan ahead for the future. They will also support you in your work developing other school staff.

AnswerThe resources on this CD-ROM are designed to offer support in a number of ways. It has been designed specifically to support those in designated 'leading teacher' roles but will also be of use to school leaders and managers, support services and those leading interventions in schools.

AnswerYou can use Leading on Intervention in several ways. Each section provides a different set of materials, which while complementary also stand alone. It may be that you want to access all the sections or that one section is more relevant or useful to you than another. The resource has been designed in order that you can dip in and out, find what is most applicable to your circumstances and use it in the way that is most appropriate for you.

You can use the Search facility or Resource library to find resources to help with a particular need.

AnswerYou can print pages using the Print command in your web browser. There is usually a button on the top bar of the browser, or it can be found under the File menu.

You can also use the 'Print this page' link at the top of the screen.

If you choose to 'Print Preview' you will see that there is a preset printer-friendly version of the page that will print only the page's body text, in black and white only.


QuestionCan I save pages to look at later?

AnswerAll resources such as Microsoft Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, PDF, video and so on can be saved to your hard drive, a floppy disk or USB pen drive. Just right-click on the link to the resource and select 'Save target as...' to save the resource.

The on-screen pages and interactive activities can also be printed out for use away from the computer. These pages can be saved, but they will be saved as HTML format and are not as easy to use or share as Microsoft Word documents, PDFs and other formats.

AnswerYes. For most of the pages in Leading on Intervention, your browser buttons will work as usual.

If you are accessing Leading on Intervention from a CD-ROM, then you can even bookmark pages as you can with other websites and as long as the CD-ROM is in the same drive, the bookmarks will work.

A few areas of Leading on Intervention, like the animated diagrams, are constructed using Macromedia Flash and you should use the navigation and print facilities inside these areas rather than the browser functions.

QuestionHow do I install Leading on Intervention from the CD-ROM onto the local network?

AnswerInstalling this CD-ROM on a network or intranet means that all your teachers can access the content across the school network. Copies of the CD-ROM can also be made for home use, or the data can be copied onto individual machines' hard drives.

To install Leading on Intervention, simply copy all the files from the CD-ROM into a folder.

To access Leading on Intervention, create a link from your intranet to 'index.htm'. This is the first page of Leading on Intervention. Everything will work in just the same way as it would using the CD-ROM.
