Introduction

Purpose

The purpose of these study materials is to help you:

• Consider areas of the teaching of speaking and listening that may be new or unfamiliar to you
• Understand how certain methods for teaching speaking and listening contribute to pupils’ learning and skill development
• Identify areas of your practice and support for teachers and pupils that you would wish to develop
  Consider and try out suggestions to improve your practice and support

Choosing your route

To help you decide which sections would be of interest to you, try the following:

• Look at some of the three-minute videos of lesson summaries in the Lessons section and note down any aspects that you would like to follow-up
• Are there any aspects in the content of the unit that you are unfamiliar with?
• Which of those aspects do you think will have most impact on your support for teachers and pupils?
