Recruitment
The National Teacher Research Panel is holding an open recruitment round during the autumn term, with interviews being held on 15th October 2009 in central London. Applications are invited from practitioners in all phases of education, with experience of engaging in and with research and who would like to join this prestigious and influential group.

- CV
- A covering letter explaining why you'd like to be a panel member and what specific experiences and skills you'd bring to the role.
- A short piece of writing (max. 2000 words), consisting of a summary of either:
- research that you have undertaken yourself; or
- a reflection of how you have used a particular piece of research to develop your practice
On the day you will be asked to take part in a series of discussion groups and take a critical look at a selected piece of research. From past experience this has proved to be a beneficial and enjoyable day for everyone involved. Travel and supply costs will be reimbursed.
The criteria for selection are:
1. Knowledge of research and research methods
a. Knowledge of qualitative and/or quantitative research methods
b. Up to date knowledge of evidence and research about a specific aspect of the curriculum or pedagogy
c. In depth knowledge, skills and experience in using evidence and/or research and to improve practice in the school classroom
2. Skills - ability to use and/or engage with research
a. Ability to assess the quality and relevance of research methods, outputs and evidence
b. Ability to assess the quality of strategies for dissemination
3. Understanding that using research and evidence improves teaching and learning
a. Understanding of what is involved in making research more relevant and accessible to teachers
b. Understanding of the value of research to the practice of teaching
4. Relevant experience
a. Experience in working with academic colleagues in order to relate their inputs to classroom perspectives
b. Experience of writing for a teacher audience
If you are successful in your application, we will also require a written letter of support from your head teacher, as panel members are required to attend meetings three times a year during school time (supply and expenses are covered).
