Guidance - What an agreement should include

The guidance sets out that:

The Secretary of State believes that all agreements should cover:

They should also include matters raised during the consultation process which are particularly important for the parents, staff or pupils of the school.

The Standard of Education

The guidance suggests:

This could say something about the standard of teaching parents can expect; that children have the right to a broad and balanced curriculum; and how the needs of all children of all abilities will be met. This might also draw attention to the statutory school targets for National Curriculum assessments, GCSEs and vocational qualifications.

For example, the school will:
offer a carefully planned curriculum matched to the needs of your child

ensure that the work set will be well prepared and appropriate to each child

Some schools have a section in the agreement for aims for each individual child, which are agreed termly, and which have with them action for the school, the child and the parents. This is an effective way of making the commitment to provide a good standard of education directly relevant and real.
