What is it? Information and examples of good practice in the use of ICT across curriculum subjects, as well as advice on selecting the most appropriate resources for your needs. How can it help? Offers a range of advice and support to help you to integrate ICT more effectively across school, into leadership, learning and teaching.
Case studies What is it? Descriptions of different ways of making use of ICT in primary schools. How can it help? Provokes teachers to think about how ICT is used in their school and how they might enhance their own teaching practice.
Example Materials
What is it? Over 180 video clips with lesson outlines, resource lists and more, showing ICT in use across nine subjects for all primary years and the six areas of learning for Foundation Stage. How can it help? Offers teachers and early years providers ideas for the use of ICT across the curriculum. The materials may be used for planning and /or for professional development.
ICT research
What is it? Links to ICT reports and publications, including those published by the DfES, and gateway access to organisations, publications, websites and databases in the field of ICT for education. How can it help? An opportunity to share ideas and develop contacts by joining Becta's ICT Research Network. Send in your views on the site, suggest further resources or take part in Becta's research.
Keys to learning What is it? Keys to learning is a DVD and booklet package that supports teachers in making links between their own use of ICT to support teaching and children’s use of ICT to support their learning. How can it help? It can be used by leadership teams to support professional development, or individual teachers looking to develop their and their children’s use of ICT.
Learning teaching and managing with ICT
What is it? Information about the role of the DfES and its partners. Policy information, guidance relating to DfES ICT initiatives, useful links and information on the role of ICT in education. How can it help? Offers the latest policy information downloads as well as links to partners.
National Whiteboard Network
What is it? Lots of useful practical interactive whiteboard resources. How can it help? Provides an opportunity to view and share all kinds of resources for interactive whiteboard use.
Online Publications for Schools
What is it? A new online ordering service from the DfES. It replaces the monthly paper mailings sent to schools and makes information accessible to all levels of staff. How can it help? Allows teachers to view summaries of publications before choosing to order or download. CD-Roms, DVDs and video resources are also available.
Primary Languages Training Zone What is it? An online resource to support leaders, teachers and trainers to implement the entitlement for every child to learn a new language from the age of 7 by 2010 How can it help? Provides and on-line toolkit to help with development of primary languages through the provision of audio, video, think pieces and resources. Teachernet
What is it? Details Government's strategy for education in England. It shows how the education system in the UK works, what the Government has planned and how you can have your say in shaping policies. How can it help? Provides teachers with information and practical help with many educational issues, including ICT.
