What is it? An online search facility for finding, evaluating and buying multimedia resources linked to the National Curriculum. How can it help? Provides teachers with lists and evaluations for 1000s of education multimedia resources.
Example Materials
What is it? Over 180 video clips with lesson outlines, resource lists and more, showing ICT in use across nine subjects for all primary years and the six areas of learning for Foundation Stage. How can it help? Offers teachers and early years providers ideas for the use of ICT across the curriculum. The materials may be used for planning and for professional development.
ICT in the Curriculum
What is it? Ask an expert online about issues relating to the use of ICT in specific subject areas. How can it help? Provides access to subject specialists in the use of ICT and an opportunity to view other practitioners' questions too.
Interactive Teaching Programs
What is it? 32 simple-to-use interactive mathematics programs, with accompanying user guides. More ITPs are currently in development. How can it help? Concepts are modelled to support teachers' mathematical explanations and questioning as well as and learners' understanding.
Keys to learning What is it? Keys to learning is a DVD and booklet package that supports teachers in making links between their own use of ICT to support teaching and children’s use of ICT to support their learning. How can it help? It can be used by leadership teams to support professional development, or individual teachers looking to develop their and their children’s use of ICT.
National Whiteboard Network
What is it? Lots of useful and practical interactive whiteboard resources. How can it help? Provides an opportunity to view and share all kinds of resources for interactive whiteboard use.
Practical support Pack
What is it? An online collection of materials designed to help teachers develop their teaching practice using ICT. There are materials to help teach primary literacy and mathematics; these include lesson plans, multimedia resources, video case studies and ICT support materials. Supported by the Primary National Strategy, the Practical Support Pack has everything teachers need to teach a particular topic using ICT, from preparation and planning to homework and evaluation. How can it help? The Practical Support Pack can help develop teaching practice using ICT by:
- Developing teachers’ confidence in using ICT as a teaching tool
- Providing them with fresh approaches to teaching familiar topics
- Helping them to assess the impact the ICT element of the lesson has on their teaching, and their pupils’ learning.
Developing teachers’ subject teaching can help raise standards in the classroom and teachers’ professional development.
Primary Languages Training Zone What is it? An online resource to support leaders, teachers and trainers to implement the entitlement for every child to learn a new language from the age of 7 by 2010 How can it help? Provides and on-line toolkit to help with development of primary languages through the provision of audio, video, think pieces and resources. Regional Broadband Consortiums (RBCs) What is it? A consortium drawn from a wide range of organisations concerned with learning and education. How can it help? Provides lots of online resources as well as practical help and guidance. Teachernet
What is it? The Online Publications for schools service links directly into the Department for Education and Skills' ordering hotline and distribution centre. How can it help? All users can choose to view or download the publications that are relevant to them. Registered users can order copies (paper-based, CDs, videos etc) and receive email alerts to the latest documents.
Teacher Resource Exchange
What is it? A database of ICT resources and activities, quality assured by subject specialists. How can it help? From simple ideas and questions, to complete lesson plans or schemes of work, this site enables teachers to develop and share ideas for good practice with the use of ICT.
QCA's National Curriculum in action
What is it? Examples of children's work with ICT across a range of subjects, accompanied by teacher commentary on how the use of ICT enhanced learning. How can it help? Search for examples using ICT in subject teaching for ideas to aid planning and/or for professional development.
