Foundation Stage Profile data
Local authority data can:
- Make a difference to outcomes for all children in the Foundation Stage through its use in:
- Improving provision;
- Developing continuing professional development;
- Increasing the engagement of children in their own learning;
- Increasing the involvement of parents and key adults in a child's learning.
- Support progress towards the local Public Service Agreement Targets 2005-8 by using Foundation Stage Profile data effectively to improve personal, social and emotional development (PSED) through:
- Providing information about how personal, social and emotional development can be supported in the context of Personal, social and emotional development materials and the SEAL materials and how achievement in the PSED scales supports attainment in early reading, writing and calculating;
- Indicating areas for development within local authority provision for continuing professional development;
- Refining the focus of local authority advisory and inspection support for settings.
- Support progress towards the local Public Service Agreement Targets 2005-8 by using Foundation Stage Profile data effectively to improve communication, language and literacy (CLL) by:
- Providing information about language development in the context of the DfES Communicating Matters training materials and the CLL area of learning;
- Providing information about language development in home language(s);
- Indicating areas for development within local authority provision for continuing professional development;
- Refining the focus of local authority advisory and inspection support for settings.
- Help governors understand their role in "setting appropriate targets for pupil achievement..", "making sure that the curriculum for the school is balanced and broadly based and in particular that the curriculum includes the National Curriculum" and "reporting National Curriculum assessments."
- Help head teachers complete school self evaluation procedures that address attainment on entry through a full understanding of how Foundation Stage Profile data can be used.
