Primary Framework assessment area launched

Audience:	Trainees and NQTs, Local authority advisors, Key Stage 2 teachers, Key Stage 1 teachers, Heads and deputies

The new assessment area has three sections:

• Assessment for Learning
  This section contains materials to help you use the Primary Framework to develop assessment for learning in your school.  The materials draw heavily from 'Excellent and enjoyment: learning and teaching in the primary years' and have been updated and repurposed for the Primary Framework.
• Assessing pupils progress (APP)
  This section has been developed jointly with the QCA and contains all the guidance, materials and resources you need to support you in assessing children's progress in reading, writing and mathematics at key stage 2.
• Standards files
  The standards files for reading, writing and mathematics contain examples of children's ongoing classroom work, which have been assessed to exemplify the APP approach and show national standards.  You can view them online or download pdf versions of the files.

There are also links throughout this area to take you to other useful resources from the National Strategies and new content within the literacy and mathematics areas, which will help you to assess and improve the progress your children are making.
