What is it?
Learning and teaching using ICT: example materials from Foundation Stage to Year 6 have been produced as part of a wider project to help primary schools make better use of ICT across the curriculum. They cover Years 1 to 6, each of the National Curriculum subjects in key stage 1 and 2; and the six areas of learning in the Foundation Stage.
Each CDROM is year specific and provides a number of examples which allow you to:
- read lesson outlines showing how ICT is used in part of a lesson;
- see the lesson outline brought to life in a video clip;
- read why the teacher used ICT in the lesson.
Some of the examples also allow you to explore the specific ICT resources used. The examples show children, teachers, early years practitioners and teaching assistants using a wide range of equipment and resources.
Interactive whiteboards, laptops and stand-alone PCs area used, as well as digital photography, video, temperature sensors and many other resources. The practice in the examples is intended to show a wide range of ICT use. Some of the practice will require considerable familiarity with using ICT; however most of it is designed for easy adaptation and replication by those who are relatively unfamiliar with using ICT across the curriculum.
