Early reading day 2
The materials in this section have been designed to support teachers and practitioners in implementing the recommendations of the Rose Report. They incorporate what is meant by high-quality phonics teaching and its place within a rich and broad early-years curriculum. They provide advice and guidance on pace and progression in the teaching of phonics and explain what is meant by the simple view of reading – the new conceptual framework for the teaching of reading. The CPD materials are organised into three sections:
- CPD outlines – which contain CPD guidance or notes for Local Authorities and schools on early reading and which could be used as a full day’s training, or broken into smaller sessions for delivery over time.
- PowerPoint presentation – which contain the presentation slides to support the delivery of the CPD outline.
- Handouts and resources – which contain any related materials or linked handouts from the CPD outlines needed to run the CPD sessions.
