Improving writing day 2 PDM outline

Embedding guided writing as an integral part of quality first teaching

Aims of the day

to review the classroom collaborative CPD practice adopted by the school

  • to discuss the progress made by:
    - the identified children (following CPD day 1)
    - all children in the class
  • to consider the extent to which guided writing has been included in the teaching sequence
  • to identify opportunities for AfL in guided writing sessions
  • to plan opportunities for guided writing sessions within a unit of work

  • A copy of the DVD Improving writing with a focus on guided writing
  • A copy of the booklet Improving writing with a focus on guided writing
  • Video clip Year 1, 3 or 5 clip to be selected from the DVD
  • HO1: A blank copy of the handout AfL and guided writing for each participant
  • HOs 2, 3 and 4: A completed copy of the handout AfL and guided writing Year 1, 3 or 5 for each participant
  • A copy of the handout Letters and sounds: Phonic progress tracking sheet
