Mathematics

This section contains continuing professional development (CPD) materials to support the implementation of the Primary Framework for mathematics. It focuses on how the school improvement cycle can be contextualised to the individual school's priorities in mathematics.

The materials demonstrate how the Primary Framework may be used as a flexible tool for school improvement and identifies some of the features of CPD that it can stimulate and support.

There are four main themes for CPD for mathematics, which can be accessed, according to individual schools' needs, through the link in the left-hand navigation panel:

  • mental calculation
  • number concepts
  • developing language and reasoning through guided group work in mathematics
  • day-to-day assessment in mathematics.

A fifth area provides additional materials to support in-school CPD:

  • supporting materials for in-school CPD.
