Connecting the Interactive Planning Tool to the internet

By default the interactive planning tool (IPT) it configured to connect directly to the internet. Some networks are configured to connect to the internet through a proxy server.

If you are able to connect successfully to the internet using your preferred web browser but are unable to do so using the interactive planning tool it may be that your browser is set up to use a proxy server. If this is the case you will need to configure the interactive planning tool with the proxy server settings. This section describes how to review your proxy settings and how to configure the IPT to use these settings.

You can easily check your proxy server settings in your web browser by following the steps detailed below.

How to check your proxy settings in Internet Explorer

  • Select Tools > Internet Options... from the menu
  • Select the Connections tab in the dialog box

  • Click on the LAN Settings... button
  • Review the Proxy server setting.

If the check box labelled Use a proxy server for your LAN is ticked make a note of the Address and Port settings.

How to review the proxy setting in Mozilla Firefox

  • Select Tools > Options... from the menu
  • Click on the Advanced icon
  • Select the Network tab
  • Click the Settings... button in the Connection area

If the Manual proxy configuration radio button has been selected make a note of the HTTP Proxy and Port settings

How to configure the proxy setting in the interactive planning tool

  • Select Tools > Options... from the menu
  • Click on the Advanced icon
  • Select the Network tab
  • Click the Settings... button in the Connection area
  • Select the Manual proxy configuration radio button.

  • Enter the HTTP Proxy and Port settings
  • Click OK to apply the new settings
  • Click on the first tab in the interactive planning tool
  • Click the Try again button. The Primary Framework site should be displayed.

What to do if connection issues persist

If you still have difficulty connecting to the internet through the interactive planning tool after having reviewed the proxy settings contact your system administrator for assistance.
