The objectives for mathematics are organised by years and by strands. The objectives in each strand can be viewed for an identified year group. These year groups include the Foundation Stage, Years 1 to 6 and Year 6 progression to Year 7. The Early Learning Goals have all been incorporated within the Foundation Stage objectives. These objectives are all embedded within the Area for learning and development: Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy that forms part of the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework. The objectives under Year 6 progression to Year 7 are in the main pitched around Level 5. This is to help to plan appropriately for children working at Level 4 or Level 5 and to help with transition from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 3.
Selecting a strand will take you to the objectives for a particular year group. The objectives shown in blue are end-of-year expectations, previously referred to as key objectives. These objectives reflect particularly important milestones in mathematics learning and should help in planning to ensure that children make good progress over the year.
