Overcoming barriers in mathematics

These materials are designed to help teachers ensure that children in Key Stage 2 progress to level 3 by the end of Year 4 and to level 4 by the end of Year 6.

Increasing numbers of children are achieving higher levels in mathematics, but some children still meet barriers in their learning that slow or block their progress. The materials on the CDs provide teaching resources and ideas for teachers to use when planning additional support for those children.

The CDs and booklets are available to order from Online Publications for Schools, quoting the following reference numbers:

  • Level 2 to level 3: 00149-2008PCK-EN
  • Level 3 to level 4: 00695-2007PCK-EN

The booklets are also available for download below. They contain information on the ‘Can I...?’ teaching sequences available within the electronic resources, and how these sequences link into the strands of the Primary Framework.
