Teachers' and students' roles in formative assessment
What does formative assessment involve and is it effective? The two studies which are the subject of this digest evaluated and illustrated formative assessment methods in secondary schools. The methods which had a positive effect on student attainment included: comment only marking, increasing wait time during question sessions, peer and self assessment, and providing feedback on summative tests.
