Teachers attended a 10-session literacy course covering comprehension and word structure over one school term. There were three main aspects to the word structure part of the course: introduction to theories and research about word structure; involvement of the teachers in the research; and provision of a practical set of materials, including lively PowerPoint slides and teachers’ notes, to enable teachers to focus explicitly on word structure in the classroom.
