Outcomes

Section 1: Acquiring and developing skills
Children:
  • perform material with technical skill, stylistic accuracy and clarity of focus and communicate the choreographic intention in solo, duo and group work
  • perform with clarity of phrasing and with sensitivity to the accompaniment
  • demonstrate sensitivity to and awareness of other performers when moving in and through the performance space

Section 2: Selecting and applying skills, tactics and compositional ideas
Children:
  • compose material with imagination and sensitivity and improvise freely
  • select, adapt and structure movement material, demonstrating understanding of compositional form and accompaniment
  • select a range of choreographic principles appropriate for the dance idea and dancers

Section 3: Knowledge and understanding of fitness and health
Children:
  • use their knowledge of dance to structure and monitor their own practice programmes for their chosen style of dance to improve their own performance
  • monitor, evaluate and adapt their programmes as they recognise the need

Children:
  • describe, analyse, interpret and evaluate dances demonstrating knowledge and understanding of social, historical and cultural contexts
