- Show the children some pictures of Christian harvest festivals. Discuss how and why Christians like to say thank you to God for the harvest.
- Ask the children to listen to (or learn) a harvest hymn.
- Ask the children to look at the words of a harvest prayer.
- Introduce the idea of thankfulness and the different ways that we 'say' thank you. Ask the children what they say thank you for and to whom.

- show their knowledge and understanding of harvest by talking about how and why some Christians like to say thank you to God for the harvest by holding a harvest festival
- identify occasions when they want to say thank you for something, and talk about the reasons why

Points to note |
- Use pictures of Christian harvest festivals from around the world.
- The order of the lessons could be altered to suit the timing of the school's harvest festival and the date of Sukkot.
