Set the pupils a DMA in which they:
- select materials/ingredients according to their characteristics and match them to appropriate making processes
- evaluate the materials/ingredients chosen by using fair test procedures with qualitative and quantitative measures
- explore the uses of modern materials/ingredients, and use them sympathetically
The DMA should also give the pupils an opportunity to discuss how we are all responsible for the wellbeing of others. Example
This example DMA has been written so it can be copied and given directly to pupils. Further details and contexts can be added, as appropriate. Specialist diets
People demand choice, whether they are eating a meal on an aircraft, in a restaurant or in a motorway service station, and meals and dishes have to be made to suit a range of different dietary needs. Many food outlets buy ready-prepared meals that can be kept frozen or chilled before being served to customers.
A company wants to buy a new meal to offer to customers with special dietary needs. Design a prototype of a suitable dish and present it to the company. |
