- how to classify the activity for which a certain person is famous
- that there are characteristics that important individuals in the past share
- how to apply previously learnt criteria

- how an individual's life can be represented and interpreted in an obituary

- to use prior knowledge and additional information to build up understanding

- to consolidate and extend previous learning
- that events in the past were not inevitable
- to assess the degree of control over events that an individual may possess
