What do we mean by planning School Diversity?
Increasingly, Local Education Authorities and schools are working together to develop a more strategic pattern of specialist schools provision across an area - in the context of the 'Five Year Strategy'. Many are planning to maximise the benefits of specialist schools and other School Diversity Programmes such as Training Schools, the Leading Edge Partnership Programme and Federations to meet local needs and deliver lasting benefits on the ground.

The Diversity Pathfinders Project
Encouraging secondary schools to celebrate their diversity by playing to their curriculum strengths and sharing the benefits with other schools through collaboration is the focus of six Diversity Pathfinder projects set up in 2001.
