The Secondary National Strategy for school improvement, formerly known as the Key Stage 3 National Strategy

The Secondary National Strategy for school improvement is part of the Government’s major reform programme for transforming secondary education to enable children and young people to attend and enjoy school, achieve personal and social development and raise educational standards in line with the Every Child Matters agenda.

The Secondary National Strategy has the following overall key strategic aim: 'To raise standards of achievement for young people in all phases and settings.'

The renewed Secondary Frameworks website is now live

The Secondary National Strategy is launching a major initiative to help teachers increase pupils' learning and attainment in English, mathematics, science and ICT.

The renewed Frameworks build on the originals which were produced in 2001 and 2002. They are based on the programmes of study for the new secondary curriculum.

The Frameworks are designed to increase pupils' access to excellent teaching and engaging, purposeful learning that will enable them to make good progress through Key Stages 3 and 4.

To find out more, please visit the renewed Secondary Frameworks website.

The National Strategies on the web

The National Strategies is working to improve the delivery of its products over the internet. A community of pilot users is currently being created that will help shape a new website. Please see The National Strategies on the web for details on how to get involved.
