Behaviour and attendance - key messages leaflets

The main key messages leaflet is for all secondary schools. It supplements

• briefings to LEA and school Key Stage 3 Strategy managers
• training and dissemination by LEA behaviour and attendance consultants
• core and additional training materials which will appear in LEAs and schools from September 2003

Positive behaviour and attendance at Key Stage 3 and 4 are pre-conditions for achieving raised standards in secondary schools. The new Behaviour and Attendance Strand, which was launched this term, will help schools develop effective whole-school approaches by providing audit, training and consultancy support. As part of the strand, we have also produced an audit to help schools recognise their good practice and build on it, as well as focus on those areas which warrant further attention.
