Although the presentation of the objectives in Years 10 and 11 is new, it is a collection drawn from the objectives presented in the Mathematics planning toolkit: Key Stage 4 published in summer 2007. In the Secondary mathematics planning toolkit, the learning objectives are organised in three columns:
Objectives in Years 10 and 11 are organised in three columns:
The objectives in these columns are intended to help pupils progress from the specified level at the end of Key Stage 3 to the identified grade by the end of Key Stage 4. The objectives in one column will not produce units restricted to exactly one grade because they stretch slightly beyond the target grade. Units planned from these tables should also be informed by objectives in the adjacent columns, to address progression for weaker pupils and to include additional challenge. The level-to-grade presentation of the objectives from the toolkit can be viewed in the documents below.
Objectives in the Framework are presented in columns for Year 10 and Year 11 to enable a 'read across' in terms of progression across from Year 7 to Year 11. These collections are mainly drawn from the level 6 to grade B column, as described above, with some combinations of objectives from other columns where this makes the progression clearer. Planning for progression and continuity describes how to make best use of the objectives presented as part of this Framework.
