Updating

Standalone and portable versions for Windows – auto update

The standalone and portable versions have an auto update feature, which is run each time the planning tool is started. If an internet connection is detected, the planning tool will check to see if there are any updates. You are prompted to download any patches.

Note: this may happen the very first time you run the planning tool. We recommend that you install patches as soon as they become available.

What will happen if I say 'No' to the update?

Nothing will happen but you will be prompted again the next time you start the planning tool.

What will happen if I say 'Yes' to the update?

Patches are downloaded and applied while the planning tool is running. Any changes will be applied when the planning tool is restarted. If there is a major update it can take some time for the update process to complete. If you are in a hurry it may be best to click 'No' and download the patches when you have more time.

Network version – manual update

The network version needs to be updated manually by the network administrator. This is done on the same machine that the planning tool was installed from by the system administrator.

  1. Open the settings tool from Start > Programs > Planning tool > Settings.
  2. Click on the 'Update' tab.
  3. Click 'Check for updates'.
  4. If there are any patches, click 'Download patches'.
  5. Once they have been downloaded click 'Apply patches'.
  6. Click 'Close' when done.

Note: no further action is needed by the administrator. However, the planning tool may take a little longer to load the first time it is run after an update.
