Assessment for learning - Whole-school and subject specific training materials

This assessment for learning (AfL) training has been developed as part of the Strategy's support for whole-school improvement. The folder builds upon existing Key Stage 3 Strategy training materials and subject development materials. Units 1 and 2 are revised versions of foundation subjects training modules 1 and 2 and provide an overview of AfL. The other units draw together key messages from existing Strategy material and also introduce some new ideas. The AfL training thus provides a coherent and accessible platform for schools relatively new to AfL and, for others, materials to help teachers refocus on some of the more challenging areas of AfL.

The AfL units are generic. They are designed to support whole-school training and lead to more subject-focused development work in individual departments. The units are to be used selectively according to a school's context and need.
