Intervention Strategy Secondary - Progression maps and Intervention online training modules

The secondary intervention site has two main areas that will support schools in meeting the needs of underachieving pupils:

  • Progression maps for reading, writing and mathematics.
  • Intervention training modules.

The progressions maps are a curriculum planning tool to support teachers in improving the progress of underachieving pupils in Years 7 to 11; They describe the pathways of progression in reading, writing and mathematics, identify the critical next learning steps for pupils and offer ideas, advice and examples for teaching. The maps also contain advice for parents, carers and mentors who are giving support.

The intervention training modules are to support school leaders, teachers and support staff who are co-ordinating, planning and providing intervention in school. School staff are encouraged to construct their own training plan by selecting from the 20 available modules to meet their needs, and to blend with other CPD available in school and in their local authority.
