Improving English Pedagogy through use of ICT - The Great Cabbage Controversy

Background

Two teachers decided that they wanted to teach pupils how to plan and revise their writing in a way that could only really be achieved through the use of computers. Their rationale, which can be downloaded below, states that information and communication technology (ICT) enables writing to be truly provisional until it is printed and therefore it can be revised as many times as necessary. This, they argue, is the distinguishing feature of writing on-screen and that, too often in the past, word processing was seen predominantly as 'typing up'.
