Improving English pedagogy through use of ICT - Snapshots of the world

Background

This approach was trialled in a number of schools with a wide range of Year 7 pupils. It was devised to address the needs of pupils who found it difficult to analyse and create precise poetic images. The teachers wanted to find out if approaching the teaching objectives through photographic images (now easily available on the Internet) would clarify the relationship between the words on the page and their visualisation by the reader.
