Support for Year 7 in English and mathematics
How the Key Stage 3 National Pilot links into our school's own priorities
Frances Gregory, Key Stage 3 coordinator at Reading Girls' School, describes her experience of how taking part in the Key Stage 3 Pilot has helped to raise standards.
Reading Girls' School is an 11-18 foundation school with about 700 girls on roll. In our present Year 7, more than a third of pupils did not reach Level 4 at Key Stage 2, and providing targeted support to this cohort is a key priority for us. So when the Key Stage 3 National Pilot was first discussed, I was particularly interested to find out how this might contribute to improving standards of English and mathematics in our school.
