Strengthening pedagogy with ICT: Early adopters' project - case study 7 - North Lincolnshire
Background
Joe Plachcinski is a Teaching and Learning Consultant working with North Lincolnshire schools. His work has had a significant focus around the priorities of the National Strategy, while taking into account individual schools' needs and priorities.
Key outcomes of the project
To create effective department collaboration through a focus of developing pedagogy, while also enabling progression in the process of embedding ICT.
The project
Raising awareness: the Strengthening Pedagogy with ICT pack was demonstrated during workshops with senior leaders and strategy managers throughout summer term 2006. The overwhelming response from these school leaders was positive. They felt that the resource had great potential for developing teacher professionalism and there was a general call to trial these materials across schools within the LA. A session was planned to demonstrate the pack at a headteachers' meeting. It was at this meeting that the project gained momentum as the leaders recognised the power of this initiative and the links to other key agendas.
The key drivers recognised by senior leadership teams were the opportunities presented by Strengthening Pedagogy with ICT to progress the teaching and learning agenda; raise pupil attainment; encourage departmental collaboration and strengthen departmental and personal self-evaluation.
