Consultation on the Classroom Quality Standards for gifted and talented education
Institutional Quality Standards
The Classroom Quality Standards (CQS) complement the whole-school self-evaluation tool for gifted and talented, the Institutional Quality Standards (IQS), and support an in-depth look at provision within Element 2 of the IQS, Effective provision in the classroom.
If you are not already familiar with the IQS, you might find it useful to take a look at these and the associated User Guide first to be able to review the CQS in context. Then focus on Element 2 and move on to look at the CQS.
You will find more information and an in-depth approach to improving provision for gifted and talented education using the IQS and the CQS in the National Strategies e-module on Teaching and Learning at: http://www.nationalstrategiescpd.org.uk/course/view.php?id=81
This is part of the CPD resource for leading teachers for gifted and talented education.
You can download the IQS in Gifted and Talented Education User Guide and the IQS self-evaluation tool below. Further information is available on the Young Gifted & Talented website at: www.ygt.dcsf.gov.uk
