Using ICT to address 'hard to teach' concepts in English and mathematics
ICT offers the potential to transform teaching and learning. This project explores the use of ICT to support the teaching of identified 'hard to teach' concepts in English and mathematics.
The project represents a different way for the Secondary National Strategy to work directly with schools. The project was started in September 2006 and based on action research in classrooms, to develop and share peer-to-peer advocacy. For both English and mathematics, the work was carried out in four local authorities and eight schools and supported by Strategy consultants and regional advisers.
This research is contained within a series of case studies linked to relevant resources and descriptions of the journeys taken by the teachers in developing the use of ICT in their classrooms. The work they produced, along with some reflections on the experience of the teachers and their pupils, is available from this website.
