Why collaborate?

Most students view science itself as important, but they sometimes see the science they do in school as something different and less relevant to the world in which they live. Part of the reason for this is that too few students have the opportunity to see science and scientists at work outside the limits of the school laboratory and the curriculum. They do not experience the exciting and inspiring opportunities that studying science can lead to, and so become less keen to continue their own studies in the subject. Schools often cannot, on their own, provide such opportunities. So collaboration with others involved in science is vital. Collaboration can benefit all partners: teachers, students and employers or other stakeholders.
