Study support can provide invaluable resources to help all young people achieve their potential at Key Stage 4 (14-16 years), providing a firm foundation for further study or employment.
Study support can help young people learn how to study. It also encompasses revision classes after school or at lunchtime. At the end of these two years (Years 10 and 11) most students will take GCSE or GNVQ examinations, and study support can provide vital preparation and support for these.
Study support can give pupils an insight into careers they may never have considered and help encourage them into higher education. It can boost their aspirations and help them make decisions for the future. At the beginning of this Key Stage, for the first time, students are able to choose some of the courses they study. Study support can help young people make the right choices.
The attached link takes you to a GCSE booster pack. The pack contains advice on planning an active revision programme for students, revision surgeries and advice on coursework. There are also some subject-specific guidance leaflets on what achieving a grade C requires, what the requirements mean to students and some suggested teaching strategies. The materials are suitable for use with a variety of audiences such as teachers, managers, students and parents. All schools have been sent one copy of the Booster pack.
