This page explains the steps that need to be taken to set up and maintain study support (out of school hours learning) activities.

If you are really 'starting from scratch' and have not been involved in running a study support activity before, we suggest you contact the head teacher at your local school or your Local Authority (ideally the Study Support Coordinator if there is one) to find out what is already happening in your area and how you can get involved.

Head teachers and study support co-ordinators in schools and Local Authorities will find the package of materials available in The Study Support Toolkit very useful to help with developing or expanding their study support programmes. The suite of publications in the Toolkit aim to inform, guide and enhance the development of study support programmes.

'Safe Keeping: a Good Practice Guide to Health and Safety in Study Support' is another useful resource to help those involved in study support to consider health and safety as they set up, extend or monitor activity.
