MagnetSites Projects
Region: West Midlands
The MagnetSites project, developed by Trilby Multimedia Limited in collaboration with Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council, is a suite of websites that have been specially designed to manage and support Dudley MBC’s study support (out of school hours learning) programme. The project was launched in 2000 and continues to expand as more local authorities across the country utilise the system. Birmingham City Council LEA, Sandwell (BREAZ), Walsall MBC LEA and Wigan MBC Education Department are already on board and other LEAs are looking at the possibility of using it to support the delivery of study support in their areas.
The system is also used to manage the Impact Summer School and for a range of learning programmes.
The project has been funded by the New Opportunities Fund; however the DfES, via the Standards Fund, fund the Learning Express and 'Footiemag' websites. When the NOF funding ends in 2005 the project will become a 'traded service' and the intention is to buy through income generation.
The attached document provides further details about each website included in the MagnetSites project.
