From July 2005, participation in the Training Schools Programme will be dependent on a school being (or becoming) a Specialist School and meeting the high performance criteria set at the point of the school's re-designation.
All existing Training School contracts will be honoured, and to ensure schools have the opportunity to continue participating in the Programme in future years, Ministers have agreed to transitional arrangements in certain circumstances. How these arrangements will apply is dependent on whether the school is already a Specialist School and when it is due to re-designate relative to the end of the current contract.
